After so many years of evolution, animation has finally told us that creating magic through technology is a real thing. The contribution of animation is astonishing. From being limited to stop-motion at one time, today animation is making movie enthusiasts awestruck in theatres with the use of CGI. Animation has managed to grab the attention of people through different ways and entrepreneurs sitting in top companies have noticed this as well.

Cut to today, many career-building opportunities have come into existence, thanks to animation. However, the only issue students face today is finding the right path to start their career in animation. Because of the limited and costly dedicated degrees to attain an education, students find it difficult to learn animation. Ultimately, pursuing an animation course is the only reliable source left for the students.

Chin up, because in this blog, we will give you a proper road map to start your career in the realm of animation by pursuing a dedicated course. So, without any further ado, let us jump straight to the key factors that you should consider when choosing an animation course.

7 Key Factors to Look for When Choosing an Animation Course

Here is the list of points that you should always check before finalizing your animation course:

1. Animation Course Curriculum

The very first thing that you should look into before pursuing any animation course is to check their curriculum. Ensure that the animation course syllabus is up to date and offers the latest learning through different modules. Compare the curriculum of different animation course-providing institutes and choose the one that you find the most reliable.

Remember, this will be a crucial stage so don’t make any wrong decisions in a hurry. Here are some of the sections that are must-haves in your chosen animation training course syllabus:

• Introduction to Animation Principles
• 2D Animation Techniques
• 3D Animation and Modeling
• Visual Effects (VFX)
• Character Design and Development
• Portfolio Development
• Motion Graphics
• Industry Trends and Career Development

2. Time Duration of Course

Oh, so you have liked the curriculum? Now is the time to find out if the course duration aligns with your other plans or not. For this, you need to have an in-depth discussion with the course providers and ensure they offer a flexible training model.

This becomes crucial as this will help you make a plan where you will be able to learn new skills and give time to your commitment to school, college, office, or home responsibilities. In any situation, a 3 to 6-month animation course will do wonders for you.

3. Price of the Animation Training Program

Eventually, your budget will finalize the course that you will be enrolling in. Therefore, it is better to know in advance how much you are willing to spend and whether the course fee aligns with your budget. In most cases, the animation course fee is expensive based on the curriculum. You can do a comparison of the price fees of different institutes based on their syllabus.

• The institute that manages to provide you with maximum learning opportunities at the most affordable price should be your final call.

• You can also do scouting for any scholarship or flexible payment options.

• Some institutes offer free introductory sessions before starting the actual course, which will give you an overview of what awaits you.

4. Modes: Offline or Online Animation Course

This particular segment can be subjective for each individual. Some like the offline modes and some might prefer online modes of learning. Based on your personal preference, you can finalize the mode of training. In most cases, students are comfortable with both animation course styles.

• It should be kept in mind that online methods can sometimes lack the practical touch that is necessary for courses like animation.

• Animation includes learning software that is essential for conducting work in related jobs. For the same reason, the student must get some hands-on software like Adobe After Effects and Adobe Animate.

• Working on real-time projects and using such animation tools will enable the students to learn the skills from scratch and make them worthy for top companies.

5. Quality of the Faculties

The expertise that faculties hold will ultimately decide the quality of learning that you will be acquiring throughout the training tenure. As a fresher, it becomes obvious that you won’t have any knowledge. So expecting industry experts in your chosen institute is not a wrong thing. Before moving any step further in this whole process, ensure the faculty checks all the following boxes:

• Adequate industry experience
• Strong technical knowledge
• Being patient with each student
• Ability to provide timely guidance and mentorship
• Have connections in the animation field and sufficient networking in the animation industry
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Is up to date with the latest technology and industry trends

To get a general idea, you can consult the animation institute or check the LinkedIn profiles of the faculty to understand their experience, skills, and proficiency in the field.

6. Animation Certification

As we come close to the conclusion of this list, one point that is mostly ignored by students while searching for any training course is the certification part. Remember why you enrolled in this course, which is obviously to create a stable career and life for yourself.

Once the course is completed, you should be entitled to receive a certificate. Note that this will not be an ordinary certificate but a gold mine that will enhance the value of your resume. It will notify your existing connections on online job platforms like LinkedIn and bring recruiters’ attention to your profile.

All of this coming together will eventually create countless opportunities for you in the long run and will introduce you to high-earning jobs.

7. Job Assistance

Ultimately, it all boils down to finding the right job to kick-start your career. So, at this point, you should be aware that the Animation training institute has a good record of providing reliable job opportunities to start a career or not.

Besides, this animation course should also consist of professionals who have connections in the field of animation. If you think that is enough for your ideal career then we will advise you to consider the following factors in your chosen animation program:

• Career counseling
• Job assistance
• Resume building
• Interview Preparation
